Head-To-Head Playoff Rules

The Head-to-Head fantasy playoffs begin during the last four weeks of Major League Baseball's regular season. Round One of the playoffs takes place from September 4-17 (Week 23 and 24 of Head-to-Head), while Round Two takes place from September 18-October 1 (Week 25 and 26 of Head-to-Head). Note that if there are any one game playoffs at the end of the MLB season, statistics from that game will be included in fantasy baseball.

Making the Playoffs
Everyone makes the playoffs! The top four teams -- two division champs and two wild-card teams -- compete for the League Championship. Division champs are the teams that win the East and West league conferences. The next two teams according to the tie-breaker below are the wild card teams. The best division champ plays the lower ranked wild card team, the other two play each other.

The 5th through 10th place teams compete in the consolation bracket.

Tie-Breakers
In the event that two or more teams have identical win-loss records at the conclusion of the season, and have played the same number of Head-to-Head games between them, the following tie-breaking system is employed:

Tie Breakers for Division Championship/Playoff Seeding
1 - Overall record
2 - Head-to-Head record (number of weeks won or lost during the season)
3 - Lowest regular season Team Earned Run Average (ERA)
4 - Highest regular season Team Batting Average (AVG)

In the event that three or more teams have identical win-loss records at the conclusion of the season, and have played a different number of Head-to-Head games between them, the following tie-breaking system is employed:

Tie Breakers for Division Championship/Playoff Seeding
1 - Overall record
2 - Lowest regular season Team Earned Run Average (ERA)
3 - Highest regular season Team Batting Average (AVG)

Scoring during the playoffs
At the end of the two-week playoff round, I'll combine the two weeks and calculate the winner. For example, if you had 20 HRs the first week and 15 HRs the second week, I'll combine the two weeks into 35 HRs and compare that with your opponent's HR total. Whoever has more gets the point.

In the event that two teams have the same number of points at the conclusion of their two week playoff game, the following tie-breaking system is employed:

Tie Breaker for Playoff Games
1 - Overall regular season record
2 - Head-to-Head record (number of weeks won or lost during the season)
3 - Lowest regular season Team Earned Run Average (ERA)
4 - Highest regular season Team Batting Average (AVG)

Playoff Schedule - Who plays Who
In Round One of the playoffs, the conference winner with the best win/loss record plays the wild-card team with the worst win/loss record; the other conference winner plays the wild-card team with the better win/loss record. In Round Two, the winners of Game 1 and Game 2 in Round One (see table below) compete for the League Championship. Each round of the playoffs spans a two-week period. The 5th through 10th seeded team in each league compete in the consolation bracket.
