          The ASEAN Consultative Committee for Standards and Quality (ACCSQ) was found by the ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting (AEM) in 1992, aim at removing technical barriers to trade in order to facilitate the implementation and to realize the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA).
           The Prepared Food Studd Product Working Group (PFPWG) was established to assist ACCSQ with the implementation of the measures for standards and conformance for the preapred foodstuff products under the Roadmap for Priority Integration Sectors. The PFPWG has, amongst other agree to identify specified areas for harmonisation of prepared foodstuff standards.
          The 8th PFPWG Meeting which was hled from 21 - 22 August 2008 in Palembang, Indonesia, agreed to establish a Task Force to address the harmonisation of prepared foodstuff standards among Member States, The ojective of the Task Force is to make recommendations to the PFPWG for the identification, and harmonisation of priority standards for the prepared foodstuff sector as part of the trade facilitation process under the standards and conformance activities in ASEAN.
