Pre-Season HOG Report®

Oink, oink, snort... here comes the hog report®.

First of all, we must extend our thanks and gratitude to Matt and Tracie Augustine for their wonderful hospitality and kindness, allowing a bunch of old guys chasing their fantasies (football) to settle into their home for the evening.  It was a blast!

David Taylor was holed up somewhere in Michigan, location unknown, for the draft and joined the fray by telephone.  DT missed the cheesy potatoes, sloppy Joes, deer (not pork) sausage, hooter wings, fried chicken (not pork), vegetable tray, pound cake, brownies, and other delectables.  Dave also missed the show Hennings put on... wait a minute, I smell something....  Mike!!

Going into the draft every team owner made a concerted effort to keep the best three players from their team of a year ago.  Some interesting pre-season trades occurred as owners tried to shape the nucleus of their teams.  Perhaps the biggest and most surprising off-season trade was made by fellow owner Matt Spencer of the Buffalo Soldiers.  Matt traded high scoring wide receiver Torry Holt to Brad Schumann's P-Cubed.  Matt received Chris Chambers, Jerry Porter and Drew Bledsoe in return for Holt.  Hmmmm... either Matt knows something we don't or Brad's quite the businessman.  Matt did get three players for one!  Well, let's just see how this one pans out... history shows P-Cubed players often end up on the DL before long.

Pre-season Pig-dictions - Based on keepers and draft picks... listing the main fantasy scoring threats, and then my pigdictions for each division.

Three Athletes And A Thinker

QB - 1. Southsiders, McNair 2. Buffalo Soldiers, Bulger 3. Widowmakers, Brady

RB - 1(tie). Southsiders, McAllister/Johnson 1(tie). Widowmakers Tomlinson/Faulk

WR - 1(tie). Southsiders, Harrison/Bruce/Williams 1(tie). Rough Riders, Mason/Coles/Gonzalez 3. Widowmakers, Jackson/Johnson/Walker

Def/K - 1. Rough Riders, Baltimore/Vinitieri

Pig-dicted order of finish - top and bottom easy to choose...

1. Southsiders - good keepers good draft, the team to beat!

2. Widowmakers - bidding $91 on James nearly screwed him... but,Mikey recovers with good draft.

2. Rough Riders - great draft just need a better QB and 2nd RB.

4. Buffalo Soldiers - draft did not make up for losing Holt's fantasy numbers.

C-Division

QB - 1. Puck Fackers McNabb 2(tie). P-Cubed Pennington 2(tie). Bear Necessities Favre

RB - 1. Puck Fackers Holmes/Westbrook 2(tie) Blackcats, Bear Necessities, P-Cubed

Def/K - 1. P-Cubed Carolina/Vanderjadgt 2. Blackcats Buccaneers/Kasay

Pig-dicted order of finish - the closest division of all!

1. P-Cubed - pickup of Holt was huge!

1. Bear Necessities - terrific WRs will keep them close.

2. Blackcats - could surprise is Jones produces.

2. Puck Fackers - may win again with McNabb and Holmes, but...

Doomsday

QB - 1. C4 Explosives Culpepper 2(tie). D-Teasers Manning 2(tie). Flea Flickers Vick

RB - 1. Pigskins Green/Portis 2. C4 Explosives Lewis/Taylor/Davis 3. Flea Flickers Dillon/Davis

WR - 1. Flea Flickers Price/Horn/Winslow 2(tie). Pigskins Smith/Robison 2(tie). C4 Explosives Smith/Toomer

Def/K - 1. D-Teasers Chiefs/Akers 2(tie). C4 Explosives, Pigskins, Flea Flickers

Pig-dicted order of finish - close(Fleas,C4,Pigs),but no cigar(DT).

1. Flea Flickers - solid all around and the team to beat.

2. C4 Explosives - tough QB and RBs could push C4 to the top!

2. Pigskins - good keepers, ok draft... usually makes playoffs via wildcard.

4. D-Teasers - not a good draft, wait til next year.
