Requirements

System

  1. Xbox video game console
  2. Microsoft Links 2004 video game
  3. Xbox Live subscription:

Links Character

Difficulty level: Intermediate*
Skill points earned: 25 or more** (recommended in order to be competitive)

* Your character's difficulty level cannot be changed. So be sure to select the Intermediate difficulty level when you create your character.

** Count the gold, blue, and red bars on your Skill Points screen.

Commitment

Play one tournament per week. We use XSNsports.com to run the tournaments. XSN Sports sets a time limit of 2 minutes per hole, excluding the time between holes for scorecard display and hole previews. At the most, 1 round of 18 holes will take about 45 minutes to play, and 1 tournament of 4 rounds about 3 hours.

All of the tournaments are stroke play, and we do not use the Fast Play option. That means you can play your rounds whenever you'd like. You do not need to schedule a time to play with others.

Rules

Season

One season consists of 6 tournaments -- 4 regular and 2 majors. (If the league is successful, we may expand to 12 tournaments -- 8 regular and 4 majors.)

Points

Round Points

Round points are earned by having the best score in a tournament round. If there is a tie, a scorecard tie-breaker is used. Working backward from the last hole, the first player with a better score wins.

Finish Points

Finish points are earned based on your finish in the tournament. If there is a tie, a scorecard tie-breaker is used. Working backward from the last hole of the final round, the first player with a better score wins.

Points Championship

The Points Championship is awarded to the player who earns the most points during the season.

Each player's lowest tournament total (round and finish points combined) is thrown out, affording each player a bad or missed tournament.

If there is a two-way tie, a match play tournament is played to determine the winner (settings to be determined). If there is a tie among three or more players, a skins game is played to determine the winner (settings to be determined).

(If the league is successful, we may ask each player to contribute some money to a pool. The pool would be awarded to the Points Champion and maybe others.)
